MEET THE COACHES
SHAWNA LANDES
HEAD COACH
After dancing throughout high school and college, Shawna has dedicated her time and talents to coaching Varsity dance team for over 35 years. She has led her teams to numerous D1 and D2 Wisconsin state pom and kick titles as well as various national titles at Contest of Champions and Ameri-dance Nationals.
She has a passion for helping dancers and teams max out their strongest potential; on and off the performance floor. Shawna is excited to contribute to the BPDT legacy and looks forward to an amazing year filled with hard work, growth, and booming a true team.
LAURA RENIER
ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Laura took her first dance class at age 5 and has been obsessed ever since. She trained at a local studio until joining the BPDT from 2000-2004. She was also a member of the UW-Stevens Point dance team from 2005-2008. Prior to joining the BPDT staff, she was the head coach at Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay for 10 years.
She believes that building the character of a dancer is just as important as developing technical skills. She strives to teach dancers the value of respect, accountability, empathy, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
Laura is thrilled to return to her roots and carry on the BPDT legacy!
LYLA FRAILING
ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Lyla has been dancing for 16 years and is trained in Jazz, Lyrical, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Pom, and Kick. She was a member of the BPDT from 2017 to 2021 where she won a D1 Kick State Title. In addition to coaching the Bay Port Dance Team, Lyla is a dance teacher at New Fusion Dance and Performing Arts.
She believes in fostering a supportive atmosphere that encourages growth, resilience, and hard work. Her approach ensures that each dancer feels valued and motivated to reach their maximum potential, both on and off the floor.
Lyla looks forward to sharing her love for dance with the BPDT!
